Telegraph: Beware the OECD and its faulty assumptions on Brexit

EU flag burnBy Matthew Sinclair, Telegraph, 27th April

It is easy for people working at respectable institutions to get a little comfortable, to assume that the logo on their work will mean it gets a hearing despite serious weaknesses.

They know that we all have a limited attention span when it comes to politics and get used to the idea that, by the time the assumptions underlying it all become apparent, the right headlines have already been published.

The OECD report on the economic impacts of Brexit seems like a prime example. The assumptions about what will happen after a deal are a little crazy.

The ‘hypocrisy’ of a Prime Minister eulogising the Queen while trying to take away her realm

Pinnochio-CameronTHE PRESS OFFICE OF The Lord Stoddart of Swindon (Independent Labour) 22nd April 2016

The independent Labour Peer, Lord Stoddart of Swindon has taken exception to David Cameron’s eulogising Her Majesty the Queen on the sovereign’s 90th birthday, while he is simultaneously leading a campaign to abolish Britain as a nation state.

Lord Stoddart said: “It is the most nauseating hypocrisy for the Prime Minister and other political leaders to eulogise Her Majesty on the occasion of Her 90th birthday while, simultaneously, organising a national and international lobby to bounce the British people into voting to remain in the European Union at the referendum on 23rd June. This is an organisation, whose policy it is to abolish nation states, including Her Majesty’s own realm.

“They have already made Her Majesty a citizen of the European Union without consulting her. Anyone with genuine respect for the Queen should vote to leave, which will protect her and our country from the EU’s aggressive empire building.”

EU Emergency Exit

It isn’t going to be sufficient to grumble about how incompetent, dictatorial and corrupt the EU is. We are going to have to show convincingly that outside the EU we will be more free and more in control of our own lives; that freedom is something to be positively desired and pursued, and that liberty is priceless and so cannot be measured in pounds and euros.

We need to focus the debate on exactly how the new co-operative alignment of sovereign states that eventually replaces the European Union is likely to be structured. Only then will people stop obsessing over whether it is safe to leave the moribund EU, and begin to take departure for granted. Thinking and debating where you are going is always more exciting than mulling over where you have come from.

This paper is a comprehensive critique of the EU and a look at what can be once we are free.

The Phoney War is Over. The Battle for Brexit Begins

Better Off OutBetter Off Out, 22nd April 2016

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Today the Prime Minister is engaging in his latest stitch up. He has begged US President Barrack Obama to come to the UK to pledge his support for the UK remaining in the EU. This is no doubt in return for Mr Cameron supporting the dreadful Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). As we have pointed out in an article for The Commentator, the European Parliament Magazine and Sputnik News today, Obama will make the case to remain in the EU because he wants the UK to be a spy in the EU camp. He has ignored the undemocratic nature of the EU, which is in sharp contrast to America’s Declaration of Independence. Even worse he has given up on the ‘hope’ message which got him elected in the first place. “We the ‘Brexiteers’ are the new champions of hope. We are the ones providing the positive alternative in contrast to ‘project fear’.”(Time for Britain’s own Declaration of Independence) (Obama slammed for Brexit comments) (Pro-Brexit Group Hopes Obama’s Influence Will Not Effect Referendum)

Hypocritical Obama needs to return to his history lessons

Published UKIP.ORG Apr 22, 2016

Mike_Hookem.jpgUKIP Defence Spokesman Mike Hookem has called President Obama “a hypocrite who doesn’t know his history” after the American leader used the two world wars as an excuse to interfere in the EU referendum.

Mr Obama said he had a right to tell the British people how to vote because the USA and Europe’s history were “intertwined”.

But Mr Hookem said there was something “sick” about using the dead in war graves to argue for Britain to be governed by Brussels.

“To use the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in the fight against a foreign power who had a desire to rule Europe somehow seems sick,” the former Commando said.

He also pointed out that “The USA came into the war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, not because of Nazi Germany.

“If he’s going to wade in telling the British people how to vote, particularly for the kind of political union he would never accept, he should get his facts straight.”
